This is the double stroller that you need in case you're looking for a lightweight stroller that is easy to push with one hand. It's also easy to carry up and down the stairs.
It comes with two fixed seats and can be configured with up to 30 seating options (including a triple!). Both seats come with UPF 50+ canopies and peekaboo windows.
Size
The Joovy Kooper X2 is a side-by-side double stroller which can seat two children at up to 50lbs each. Its seats are more generously bigger than those of other strollers with lightweight designs and the canopy has large SPF 50 sunshades that have windows that peek out. Other important features include cup holders with one parent and an enormous, self-standing basket that can hold up 25 pounds; swing-away bars for kids to get out and in their seats and the wheels can be locked with swivels to make it easier to maneuver on difficult terrain. This is a great choice for urban and suburban families. It also comes with a newborn-friendly a double set that includes a wedgie to help you sleep in a lying-flat position.
Weight
The weight of a double buggy is among the most important factors that determine how easy it is to push. In general, a buggy that is light is easier to lift and transport but it might not have enough suspension to handle bumps and uneven terrain.
Check twin pushchairs of each model carefully before you purchase. Some double buggies come with an upper limit on the weight of the seats while others have a frame limit. Some double buggies are able to fold with the seats removed, making them smaller and lighter. This is useful if you are limited on storage space.
The tri-fold doubles tend to be the lightest models as only one hand is needed to lift the lower and back sections. They are also smaller than buggies that are side by side and are able to fit through most doors. The iCandy Geo 3 is one of the lightest tri-fold doubles available on the market. It can comfortably accommodate twins or a toddler and a baby.
Tandem buggies are initially one pushchair, but they come with adapters to accommodate a carrycot, a second seat or car seat which makes them an ideal choice for growing families. Some, like the iCandy Orange, offer over 30 seating configurations so they can expand with your family up to the age of a third child. These doubles are heavier than trifolds, however, since the weight is more evenly distributed, they are much easier to maneuver.
Folding
The most effective double buggies for young children fold in a matter of minutes. Our Lab experts love this feature since it helps them squeeze the buggies into the back of their vehicles and free up storage space when not in use. The Joovy Kooper X2 for example comes with straps that can be pulled up on the seats and then the whole thing folds down. Even our most experienced testers were able to do this tri-fold with just one hand.
The light Delta Children LX side by side is another great choice for double buggie. Its lightweight weight is a plus but its main features are such as large pop-out canopies that have SPF 50 and peekaboo windows swing-away bars that aid children get in and out of the seats and reclined seating and leg rests for smaller children.
Manoeuvrability
One of the most important aspects to take into consideration when selecting a compact double buggy is its maneuverability especially how it is simple to move around with both children on board. Certain pushchairs are better than others in this regard and include the iCandy's "cinema chair" (where the back is elevated).

This is the reason why narrow tandem buggies and side-by-side designs can come in handy. These buggies can be a bit longer and could be difficult to navigate through doorways.
The UPPAbaby Vista 2 pushchair is an excellent example, since it's a comparatively small model that has two seats in addition to - most importantly - an auxiliary board that can accommodate a third child.
Other smaller, three-wheeled models like the phil&teds dot also incredibly agile, especially with its clever 'dot kits which transforms it into an inline buggie. It has different seating configurations that are suitable for children with different ages. It even allows the front seat to rotate to face the parents for optimum face-to-face bonding time. It also has a great storage basket that is easy to fold. It is a great option for families that are growing!
Comfort
With compact tandem strollers or versatile side-by-side buggies, parents can keep an eye on both children at the park, grocery store or any other place. These lightweight doubles can accommodate two children, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds each. They also come with a pop-out canopy that can be extended far enough to give shade. The doubles come with one cupholder for each parent and a reversible cupholder on the seat back. They also have an enormous underseat storage basket.
If you're beginning with a growing family, add the phil&teds double kit to your dot buggy to transform it into an inline double ideal for toddlers and infants alike. The innovative 3-wheel design allows for simple kerb popping and excellent mobility, while the sling seat provides an excellent opportunity for infants to bond with their parents. It is easy to swap the sling seat for an infant car adapter when your children grow older. You're now ready for your next adventure, with a luxurious travel bag and rain cover included!
